hiya.

I'm an IT Engineer / System Re-Seller new to this whole litestep thing.

got a reccuring problem. almost every time i try to open the "my documents" link from the desktop of LiteStep, i get a "litestep caused an error..." message, asking to report.

looked at the data, and it's with shlwapi.dll.

i've got G-Mail Notifier, CPUIdle, Wireless Networking and B-Secure running. don't have winamp installed.

using the default theme to try and trouble-shoot. any advice would be greatfully recieved :-)

9x or XP?

Just guessing it might have something to do with the weird locations M$ likes to put it's document folders :P

lol - very true :-) could well be. more in-depth description coming this evening. had some more interesting bugs. I wondered if Wireless 802.11g could have anything to do with it?

hiya all.

just looked at that link. tried the fix. didn't work. wierd that if I go through internet explorer it works. i've downloaded winamp now. i'm also gonna download directory opus and try that - it seems to be an explorer problem.

What happens if you are in Windows Explorer and click on My Documents? If it works try upgrading your desktop icons module.

it crashes at the point of opening any windows explorer window

ctrl-alt-del -> taskmanager -> file -> new task -> explorer.exe

:p

??? Any luck now ???

hiya guys. It's solved. Thanks for the suggestions.

three guesses what it was?

it was a virus - shlwapi.dll was infected by it, and as soon as a program touched it, it crashed!

lol. blummin things. AVG didn't pick it up. only found out when my server did a network-wide scan! damnit!

Yah me too.. what happened to that thread from yesterday fractal?

The one where you said "here's your fix: open cmd.exe and type 'del c:\'" or whatever it was... I can't find it now and I wanted to take some screenies :(

yeah I think Devil destroyed it :( I am glad West caught on in the end :D

But I dont think that command would have worked either :( but he would have got the drift (and what a freak too! threatening ls.net would go down if he didnt get help immediatly, what a tard!)

Haha, yeah, sorry about that fractal... but it was late and I was like, "WTF is he actually *helping* this guy??" I didn't look very closely at that command you suggested, I thought you were serious :)

Haha that was priceless. That whole thread was beautiful, Devilboi should have preserved that or something, locked and stickied it for the world to enjoy.

It belongs in some kind of forum museum.

But, alas, it is lost to us forever-more :'(

*sigh*
