Uploading downloads Thread last updated on 2005-09-28 14:03:30

Hi,

I have tried uploading xLabel, and xStep on different occasions but it doesnt work.

They neither ended up in the downloads page, or the "Todays Upload" thingy...

:(

Were they refused?
Did I not do something right?
Am I supposed to fill in every field? (I forgot one once and it told me I had to have that, so I figured it would be ok to leave other things that it didnt mind about being blank...)

?

You have to fill in every field...yes. Also, you only have something like 3 minutes to do the upload or something. If it times-out then it doesn't get submitted.

ok.

did you allow xDesktop-1.7.5???

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-07 10:45:46 link

yes...and no more asking for approvals. that gets really annoying.

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-09-07 17:10:05 link

sorry, its just I dont see it on the home page... :(

I'll shut up now :D

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-07 17:35:39 link

It gets posted at the end of the "night" in a batch with all the other uploads from the day.

hate to be a bitch, but I think the "Today's New Downloads" thing hates either me or my releases.

But meh meh (would be cool if the n00bs saw xStep though ;)

tux!!!

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-13 11:57:22 link

Well...the upload never completed in time so that is why it was never approved and never posted to the news. tux should be able to find something to put in there so you guys at least get an error message. As for actually getting it posted email me all the parts required for the post and Ill put it up when I get a chance.

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-09-13 19:17:56 link

The upload never completed in time? Why is there a time limit?

Seems strange (and annoying for me cause my crappy eMule infested connection doesnt push very hard...)

EDIT:
Hmmm, well I downloaded the uploads, and its OK, no broken zips or anything, so It just doesnt like it if I take to long? seems bizarre...

I will mail you the crap! :D Thanks DeViLbOi :D

There is a time limit on the connection in the server config. Every server has one it just isn't normally reached. You would normally do this to time-out inactive connections. I want to say you get something like 10 minutes; but I don't know for sure after the server was rebuilt. Ill have to talk to one of the server guys.

eh, sorry guys... I haven't been here in a while. Yah, there are several fixes that need to be put in place on the site, just don't have the time right now. Each time I think that I have enough time to start something, another thing comes up, I guess that's real life for ya. So, just bear with me, unless of course, someone is willing to volunteer to join the dev team.

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-18 23:37:25 link

oh yah...and jugg is working on the upload timelimit and size. they did get reset when the hd died.

sweet :)

I would volunteer, but I know nothing about this sorta stuff ;) (Or is that not a problem?)

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-19 07:14:45 link

you know C right?

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-09-19 07:33:56 link

C? hell no! but I am trying to learn.
Why? do you ls.net with C? (lol!)

Posted by member 1949 on 2005-09-19 09:50:55 link

Dev what are you using C for?
I thought LS.net is coded in php.

Posted by member 424 on 2005-09-19 10:04:35 link

yah Dev, what are you using C for?

I guess he's thinking that if you know C, then PHP shouldn't be that hard for ya to learn ;)

Posted by member 1885 on 2005-09-19 13:27:24 link

Maybe he was talking about Mel C?

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-19 14:00:42 link

tux gets a fishie for being right

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-09-19 17:05:31 link

Well, anyway: What needs to be fixed?

1) The upload timelimit,
2)The Forum search (Just making a search page or even removing the dead link?),
3) Putting something up for "Docs",

??? Is that all?

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-19 17:51:48 link

upload timeout was a problem in a php setting and should be fixed.

forum search requires an SQL upgrade that jugg is working on

Docs...well...thats going to go away as soon as tux gets to coding.

its actually all of the coding that tux needs to do that needs the help. mostly minor bugs here and there that need to get patched up.

Posted by member 1949 on 2005-09-19 17:55:07 link

Tux can you make a copy of the code in a zip.
I will reinstall mysql and php4.
I've studied php and I would like to contribute if I can.
If it's over my head then I'll catch on.

What Immortal ^^said ;)

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-20 10:53:10 link

you either join the dev team or you don't. can't be letting the site code float around like that. if you want we can send you some of the code so you can see if you understand it and go from there.

Posted by member 1949 on 2005-09-20 11:47:23 link

Dev that's fine and if I feel I can help out I would join.
My deal is html, javascript, php...
Jugg can handle the sql db and server right?

Posted by member 1 on 2005-09-20 12:17:43 link

yeah...jugg handles all the server side stuff. Ill have tux shoot you something in an email to take a look at.

Posted by member 248213 on 2005-09-20 17:34:11 link

Well, I dont know much about "html, javascript, php..." so I'll let Immortal handle it :D

But if you ever loose interest or something I'll take another look :D

Coolies!
