Humn... Noticed earlier that i only have two icons in my system trey instead of however many i usually have.
Works fine if i use the explorer shell.

/me hopes he's just done something stupid and not realised

have you tried rebooting? If you startup LS after killing explorer you will get issues like this. Also...some themes hides certain systray icons to make room. Also..Also...make sure you don't have any of those wonderful Stardock desktop apps installed, or the remnants of. Also..Also..Also...make sure you have a theme that isn't using really really old systray modules. Also..Also..Also..Also...make sure you aren't using a really old LS build.

I think that covers everything.

Yep, tried rebooting. I've tried it with every LS Theme i have (ones that used to display all the systray icons).
The only stardock thing i'm using is the Iconpacker, but i cant see it being this as it hasn't caused any issues before. Nope to the thtme using really old systray modules and i'm using the latest LS Build!

May sound a little... stupid... but are you talking about the quick-launch icons?

Also, sometimes when Explorer "crashes" it resets a lot of the desktray options - especially video and sound options. Try checking the program specific options to make sure that the desk-icon is no DE-selected, as this sometimes (I have NFI why, happens mostly with ATi, nVidia, and any AC99 sound software) happens.

Otherwise, it may be a specific setting in your systray.rc file. If you have a vertical or horizontal x/y specified along with a directionWrap, you may actually be "hiding" some of your icons.

Hope those solve your problem.

"The only stardock thing i'm using is the Iconpacker, but i cant see it being this as it hasn't caused any issues before."

What do you mean "before"?
Was Litestep showing all the icons sometime in the past?
If so, what have you changed since then :D

Before, as in "Earlier in time" ;)

Nope, i hadn't changed anything, and yes, it was showing them in the past.

I have the same exact issue. I *believe* it has to do with ownership of the applications (system [all users] or your user login). Some of the programs that load at boot will display thier icons in the system tray, some wont.

I havent figured out how to correct this though.

Ah, as long as i'm not totally alone on this i'm happy heh!

Let me get this straight.

You were using LS and Iconpacker fine.
Some time passes.
Nothing is changed.
Things are broken.

How am I supposed to believe that? If nothing was changed, everything would be the same.

Well...for me thats not the case

With explorer as the shell, I get all of the system tray icons I should. When using lightstep, I am missing a number of those same icons.

Phaedryn: Well, the thing is Devilboi says to make sure any stardock app you have is uninstalled:
"Also..Also...make sure you don't have any of those wonderful Stardock desktop apps installed, or the remnants of."
Iconpacker works different with Litestep than it does with explorer.

So you should read the thread and try all the stuff Devilboi says ;) (He knows what he is talking about).

Particular applications have peculiar results under Litestep.
Actually not just LS, but usually any alt shell, as some crap relies on explorer to work :/

Oh, Im sorry...

I should have been more clear. Im not running any stardock apps. This is problem is just with using lightstep as an explorer replacement, clean boot other than that. The missing icons in the system tray are things like my gmail notifier, icq, ect.

Seems to be only the things that are user specific as opposed to global.

yeah...well I continue to refuse to help anyone that can't even spell the name of the app right.

Well, Phaedryn:

What stuff are you using? (OS, litestep build, modules, etc)

ps: Hijacking the thread is kinda lame...
