So I have used litestep for some time now, started to get the hang of hit, how to changes modules and so on.
The only thing realy anoing me about LS is that I can't get network browsing to work... Everyone else can browse my shares, but i can't search computers, or browse others shares.
Is there a simple way to fix this? or is there any module i can ad to get it up and running?
I'm not willing to bet my life on it but I'm fairly certain this has nothing at all to do with LiteStep. Sounds more like one of the fun side effects of trying to network Win9x and WinXP in a p2p environment.
no, all computers in the network are running XP
Hmm. So you mean that if you switch back to Explorer, browsing the network works again?
yes, at least the "search computer" function
The right click search functionality is part of the explorer shell. Use a File Manager replacement or Search replacement and you should be ok. Another option is to open the search bar manually and then pick the PC from there. Works AOK here.
Or ctrl-F
ps: A fix is being coded for the right lcick search not working.
Ok, I use Total commander as file manager, but it doesn't work to search for computers in TC either... What kind of search replacement are you talking about? couldn't find anything when i googled it.
fractaldesign: nice! any clue when it will be done? and is it a new indiestep that will have or what?
I am not sure where it will end up, but it is being discussed over at ls-dev.org
i don't find anything for network searches in file finder?
