well,
i'm fairly new at Litestep (been using it for 2 years only) but you might try changing your wallpaper in your Display Properties...
if that doesn't work,
it means Litestep has taken over (with a module, i think "litestep wallpaper changer" or "lswallpaper"?) and then you will need to provide more info like what theme you are using :)

Only themes that use the theme.ini or a module to change wallpaper can do it.

Most themer's forget or just dont like doing that.
I prefer to make the theme look exactly as posted when installed!

If you want to have walls set upon switching themes, do this.

Inside the litestep directory is a folder called themes.
Ex: C:\Litestep\themes\designed4\
Create a new text file
name it to "theme.ini"
enter this info:
[Install]
Font="misc\Silkscreen.ttf"
FontName="Silkscreen (TrueType)"

Wallpaper="wallpaper\The_Way_by_Skybase.jpg"
WallpaperStyle="center"

These are assuming you have fonts in a folder called "misc"
and the wallpaper is in a folder called "wallpaper"
These folders MUST be in the theme folder to work.

This is part of the OTS2 folder structure.

This is a very common question here.

maybe 2% of themes actually come packaged with the wallpaper from the screenshot. most don't because most people don't appreciate having their wallpaper changed for them.

wouldn't it be great to let people choose if they want to change wallpaper or not during the installation of the theme? or is that too hard to program? :)

@Caelis: Both LSThemeInstaller and LSCP include that option.

You could do a simple !confirm with a wallpaper module too.

But Litestep is a shell.

Wallpapers arent part of the shell.

since when aren't wallpapers part of the shell?

you can close litestep or explorer, take a look. the wall is still there. if it was part of the shell it would disapear would it not?

hmm. semantics. i argue that the wallpaper is a part of the visual appearance presented to the user of the computer and should be considered part of the shell. in this case, i'd say it's a shell component not controled by either litestep or explorer directly.

though what you've said is correct, it's not part of the shell in that it isn't physically part of the executable code labeled as the shell.
