I don't use from a long time Litestep. I have Litestep OTS1/2 Installer 3.02 and when I try to change the skin , I get severals errors. Finaly the skin doesn'y load and the desktop remains blank. Only the default skin it's working. I need additional software or what can I do that the other skins should work !?

What themes are you trying? Are you sure they're OTS2?

most of them are ots2

Are you connected to the Internet when you switch to them for the first time?

Posted by member 250128 on 2005-07-10 18:41:31 link

no. I don't have an Internet connection at home yet

Ahh good call, DeV.

That's your problem, you aren't able to download the modules. Download the modules you need from http://www.loose-screws.com/ or http://www.ls-universe.info/ and transfer them to the computer without the net connection. Stick them in the modules\archive folder - don't unzip them. You'll usually be able to tell what modules you need by looking in the theme.rc file of the theme you're trying to install.

That's fixed my problem. Thanks

why cant people read error messages, and then THINK about why its happening?

Posted by member 250128 on 2005-07-15 17:43:20 link

it isn't fixed ... with all the modules and modules sources copied into archive folder and I can't apply the themes

Posted by member 1 on 2005-07-15 18:03:59 link

they don't belong in the archive folder...that is simply where they are put after they are installed.

Posted by member 250128 on 2005-07-15 18:11:35 link

no...they are to the archive folder, because i don't have an internet connection at home ...

NLM does check the archive folder. Infact, NLM checks there before it even checks the internet (NetLoadModuleZipPath - which enables that - is part of omar's installer).

Make sure that you have left them zipped (unchanged from the download), and they are the right versions (ver I'm betting is the prob). You could change the version in the theme.rc to match the module version you have, but that can be risky if the theme was designed to use specific features of a certain module version, or if the module was changed dramatically etc.

i will try that... but I have copied all of them from http://www.ls-universe.info and i haven't unzipped them .. they are in the archive folder zipped

That's strange, then. Any specific error messages?

Posted by member 1 on 2005-07-16 15:33:29 link

Im with xcal on this one. If it will look in the folder...its prolly a versioning issue with the modules.

I will look to see and write you the error message that I receive

what's the repository that nlm checks online?

SFO, Loose-Screws and LS-Universe

actually, by default, only loose-screws, and maybe SFO. but it's a good idea to also include the following two sites:

*NetLoadModuleSite "http://www.ls-universe.info/download/modules/"
*NetLoadModuleSite "http://www.mzks.org/litestep/module/"
