Modifying Omar's installer Thread last updated on 2005-07-25 18:46:45

I am using LS on some customer machines to allow the use of a desktop shell but only allow the user access to specific applications and try to hide the rest of the OS (protect the user from himself). I would like to be able to tailor the installer to install the modified Austerity theme I have created so that I don't have to perform the two step process of installing LS and then install the zipped modifications afterward. Where can I find the source?

Since I am proficient with InstallShield, maybe it would be easier and more flexible for me to package the file system components into an IS installation package. The only thing I would be missing is what registry settings to apply during installation. What registry settings are installed/modified during LS installation.? Are there any files that go into locations outside the LiteStep root directory?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

jugg,
Do you know anything about the second part of my message about files outside of the LS root directory or registry entries added or changed?

the ls docs should tell you what registry entries get changed and what files are necessary.

also, browse the forums. there are several posts that indicate which registry entries need to be changed.

"The installer source is not available"

Isn't that kind of odd for a distro adhering to an OPEN Theme Standard?

Thats why someone is working on a new installer :D (OTS3 with all the trappings and better)

Check out lsdev.org for more info

Koo390, you could make a simple bat file and distribute that across the network as a work-around.

West: the distro is open source, but the installer isn't. at least partially because he included a few apps which he created himself, which I believe also are not open source.
