How to change from one language to another quickly. Couldn`t find any language bar or smth...

My theme is "simplicity" (not simple at all - as I can`t change to any language yet...)

P.S. Someone wrote about pressing SHIFT+RM button on the desktop - this doesn`t work here for sure.

*Desktop RButton !Popup

works great here.

Sorry for misunderstanding, but - ...yes, rbutton DO make menu popup, but in the menu appearing I can`t see any option for changing language, some other options - yes. I was talking about something like it was in windows manager - "language bar" to switch language from russian to english, for example, to type some stuff in needed language.

Generaly, to change a theme langage, you have to edit step.rc (and other config files) manualy... Sometimes, you'll have to re-draw gfx...
Humm, better stay in english... unless you're using a chinese theme (Note: I have nothing against chineses)
All the best...

I think you are saying about changing winodws` "communication" language, what I`m talking about is changing keyboard`s typing lang.

I can`t believe it could be complicated to change that... I was using three different language back at windows explorer and I still need them.

2PabloEscobar: It is too difficult to understand you - what do you want? To able to switch between different keyboard layouts? You can perform this operation as in Explorer - just use key shortcut - Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift, in according to your settings. If it doesn't work, open \Litestep\personal\hotkey.rc and remove every line which contain both Ctrl and Shift, or Alt and Shift, in dependecy of your system settings, and remove these lines. Save this file and recycle Litestep - Ctrl+Alt+R.
Or keyboard layout indicator? Use RusLat(www.winapi32.narod.ru). It supports a lot of languages, but you don't say which langs do you using... Also you can try PuntoSwitcher (www.punto.ru) or SwitchIt, but I don't know, do they support different languages except Russian and English or not...
Why Litestep is incompatible with the standard layout indicator internat.exe? Nobody knows...
If you have any problems with RusLat or if it don't support required language - contact it's author(e-vasil@yandex.ru) or me (inform-sega@freemail.ru) - it will be added...

Thanks, inform-sega, I WAS talking about keyboard layout. I just happened to be russian with no good english knowledge, and words "keyboard layout" just didn`t happened to come to my mind.

Ohh, I thanked you, but your way of solving the prob. doesn`t work. I use alt+shift settings to switch language, so I removed alt+shift combinations from my hotkeys.rc, but still I can`t change my layout.

hmmm... very strange... one another Russian user has the same problems, but he disappears without a word... Try to perform the following experiments:
1) remove hotkeys.dll from step.rc
2) try to change switch-binding to the Ctrl+Shift (mb the reason is that Alt is a Windows' system key)

...and... what about Egonz's post?

P.S. it is verrry funny to speak with the Russian man in English... in broken English... gggg

for cycling input languages ctrl+shift works out for me fine. alt+shift doesn't tho. guess inform's right about that in his post.
btw win98 and winXP both act the same, as much as i've tested ;)

You don't require the language bar to alternate between keyboard layouts. You just need to know the key bindings. For instance on WinXP, I set:

(LEFT)ALT+SHIFT+1 to switch to my chosen keyboard layout. Then I use ALT+`/~ to turn the IME off and on as need be. Keep in mind that some apps don't necessarily support IME input...
Mozilla does though...

For instance:
ka か ki き ku く ke け ko こ
and so on...
That was typed alternately using the key bindings above, without having any access to the language bar. Keep in mind that you have to set these bindings yourself in the regional and language settings applet in the control panel.

Hope that was a reasonably clear set of instructions. :}
Can't say whether this works for Russian or not, or on anything else besides WinXP.

*pissed off mode*
darn
some time passed, i feared, there'll be some questions waiting for me, but no reactions at all ...
maybe you guys think, the answer is in these formums somewhere, but i'm just too lazy to look for it
now lemme tell ya all: these solutions do NOT work for me
*switches to normal mode*
phew
so
i've got hungarian (latin characters) w!n98se with the omar's last-but-one ls installer, spiced with ILS-2003.05.17, and i just can't switch to asian input methods (or what)
i've got japanese ime installed, works fine under exp but since internat crashes with ls, i can not find any other way to use it
does that soo famous 'switch it' thingy help me, or what do i need to do/install/remove/anything to avoid using exporer ?
almost forget
where do i find 'switch it'?

Why on earth did you go back to an Indie LS build if only the latest .7 beta supports the language indicator?

2rapchee:
1) for XP: uncheck the checkbox named "Show Language Bar" or something like this in Control Panel -> Regional Standards -> Languages -> Language Bar
2) for 98: download the _REALLY_ latest Omar's installer with 24.7b4...
Forget about SwitchIt - it was a temporary solution %)
