Maximizing windows with LS/WinXP Thread last updated on 2004-08-04 14:14:09

Sorry for this, I know the answer to this question is somewhere - I've seen it before, but paid no attention - but I can't bloody find it again.

I'm running LS 0.24.7 RC3 on an XP box, and whenever I maximize windows and then switch desktop, the maximized window follows me. Actually, it only follows me as I move "up" the desktop list (from 1>2, 2>3, etc.) but not "down". It's frustrating as hell, and I know there's a simple solution, but like I said, I can't find it. I've dug through the docs, the .rc files, and Googled, but come up empty. Odds are good I glazed over for the precise moment it was on-screen in a readme or something...

Thanks in advance

have you tried searching the forum?

Yeah I did, but all I found was page after page of irrelevant results.

really...cause I just searched for "maximized" and I found a relevant result. the 4th one, actually...

I think you misunderstood my question. I just searched for "maximized" and looked at every single result and none were relevant. I don't need any sort of "SetDesktopArea" thing or any of that. How about instead of insinuating I'm an idiot, you perhaps link me to this supposed relevant response?

Yeah, nothing there at all that could help. Thanks though.

The problem you described is a bug in Windows code. Most people find that by turning off styles in XP fixes it. There is a work around implemented in ckvwm.dll. I do not recall if rabidvwm has implemented this work around yet. If you are using bangvwm.dll, you can remove the bVWMKeepMaximized setting to fix the issue.

I've just discovered I have the same problem, turning of XP styles works fine, and also makes everything look more like good old Win98 :D

ckvwm does fix it, but rabidcow hasn't released a fix for rabidvwm yet. also, as i said, the fourth result for a search with the keyword "maximized" covers this.
