step.rc versus theme.rc Thread last updated on 2004-07-30 11:01:17

I'm trying to learn how to create themes and the information at the lsdoc web site seems to be inconsistent with all the themes I am seeing.

It says I should create a Step.rc file but most themes I see use a Theme.rc file. The purpose of both files seems to be pretty much the same. Am I correct in believing that the Step.rc was for OTS 1 and Theme.rc is for OTS 2?

Thanks. I couldn't find that thread on my own since Search wasn't working.

jesus h. christ. search IS working. you can't search through all the forums at once (THAT search is disabled), but you can still search through the individual forums. put the search items into the box next to "Go!", then hit "Go!". There ya go. Searching.

Well it is an unlabeled, anonymous editbox. One can only guess by seeing its width that it's a search field, and not a field that takes in a page number to which you want to jump... I can understand how someone misses this bit; the search link is logically before the editbox. English readers read left-right, top-down.

There's visual noise there that's easy to ignore. The forms in the cells of that table at the top of a forum category could be grouped better to indicate their functions IMO (perhaps not easily, Firefox's DOM Inspector for this site scares me :)

Lastly, the message on the downed search page doesn't indicate that you can still search, and the newspost regarding the issue got pushed down...

DeViLBoI? :D

The fields are grouped as all other fields are grouped on the rest of the site.

As for changing the search not working...we can see what we can do. We are hoping to get the searching working again...but with so many records it is a bit hard.
