first and foremost i cannot edit .rc files with notepad. either they are nowhere to be found or when i try to open these type of files to edit, they are of no avail because nothing happens. secondly i get this error when clicking on the "file" button in the upper right hand corner: The path 'e:\-downloads-' does not exist or is not a directory. thirdly when i click the "txt" button to the right of the "file" button, nothing happens. if someone can show me how to fix these things it would be greatly appreciated. thanks again everyone.
Just a thought...
When you open notepad and click "open" to open a file there is an option right beside "cancel" named filetype...
You have set this to "all types" or "show all types" or "*.*" ?
You wont be able to find any .rc - files when it says ".txt" ...
Or is this what you have tried?
1. i dont see why not being able to edit some text files should be a nonstep problem *scratch*
2. why dont u put this inside the oh so long onstep thread?
3. to fix your button problems just have a look inside the themevars.rc ... and most likely you didnt define $TextEditor$ as u were installing litestep - just get into evars.rc which u wil find in your personal folder to fix this
yeah ive done the text thing in evars.rc but still doesnt work. how do i change the path for these buttons??
well. seems as though the text think works. but the file button is still messed up. anyone know how to fix that button issue?? pops up with that same error that says "The path 'e:\-downloads-' does not exist or is not a directory." yeah i dont know whats wrong with it but if i right click it it works fine.
you probably don't have an e:\downloads directory. and it looks like that button is hardcoded to it.
it is - if u just looked inside the themevars like i told u o.O
hey then!! listen to muhKuh!! :P
sorry i dont really understand how to fix it the "file" button problem. what do i edit in order for it to work??
look at muhKuh's first reply. it says it in there. edit themevars.rc
no actually in his first post it says to edit your personal evars.rc.
dweL: yoiu should actually edit themevars.rc your nonstep\config dir
yeah i edited it but still the same problem. what do i put in the quote for it to open My Documents folder??
funky, this is copied from his first post:
"to fix your button problems just have a look inside the themevars.rc"
eh, sorry about that, read too fast :|
dweL: try "$Documents$"
yeah look into it and then what. i dont know how to mess around with it yet. and the documents thing didnt quite work. it just opened explorer with -e:\downloads- in the path line. any suggestions??
Dwel, are you recycling litestep after making changes?
Hold shift and left click the desktop, or click the button to the left of "net" and hit Recycle
wow. youre a genious. thanks darkon. for another problem though. it seems as though my rainlendar is forever hiden. when i show it i still cant see it. how can i force it into visibility?? thanks.
lol - dweL, ya funny
to set this straight:: i said the path to your beloving texteditor is defined in your personal evars.rc and everything concerning the 3 buttons to the upper or lower right [depends on where your taskbar is] is inside the themevars.rc as well as the FileLeftStartIn var which is set to "e:\-downloads-" which i forgot to uncomment before zipping the theme - just set it to anything u like!
i thought the name of this var would speak for itself
pardone moi
and dont forget to hit ctrl+alt+r to recycle after this
thanks muhkuh youre a lifesaver. and a genious for fixing nonstep, the one and only theme i use. anyways how do you make my rainlendar show up?? it appears to be hidden. anwyays of forcing it into visibility?? i think i tweaked the options into forever hiding...soo yeah. need help with that.
!rainlendarshow should work, if not make sure it is not set to a location that is off the screen. Also make sure it's actually loaded :p
hold shift, left click, then click show rainlendar. If the words you are reading seem to make no sense then you need to update your version of non step
yeah like Funkyd00d said - check the rainlendar.ini which u will find in your personal folder for a position [X=??? / Y=???] which really is on your screen like 100x100 and then move it whereever u like ... there souldnt be any problem anymore with loading rainlendar ... but if there is, tell me - u can determine if its loaded by opening the aboutBox of litestep [via ls menu or !about in lsxcommand]
here on the coordinates: X=231Y=256. still hidden even when i SHOW rainlendar. if you dont understand the words that you are reading, read it thoroughly. its been updated soo dont worry about that. i had to update it just for it to be functional. but the hidden things seems to be because one of the hide options was toggled.
but is it loaded at all? what does the LS about box tell you?
yeah it is loaded. whatever ill figure it out. thanks though.
