I couldn't find any part in my settings that determines this, but when I open winamp it respawns itself everytime I change virtual desktops... Is there any way to just have it stay in the one I opened it with? I saw the "sticky" switch, but it appears to be automatically sticky with no way to turn it off.

that´s a bug in winamp, dunno if it was fixed in the last version (5.03c).
