Help with removing desktop icons Thread last updated on 2004-07-18 18:15:11

I just switched to Litestep a couple days ago, and I am loving it so far.

I used the installer and the theme that came with it, Austerity I think.

For some reason, my desktop now has icons for Network Places and Internet Explorer. I have tried several things, but I can't seem to get rid of them.

Any ideas?

true,

I'm still learning, thank you for being patient. I just realized last night that it is using that module...

I'm also trying out different themes.

I rather like Austerity, but this Excalibur 2 is pretty nice as well. I've got a few others I want to try.

Thank you for your help, I'll check out the readme for icondeck.

I've already started.

I had actually read the file, and couldn't find any info on what I wanted to know, which is why I asked here.

Don't worry, I read a lot. I generally only ask if I can't the info on my own.

I'm not sure if it was icondesk or another module that was recently updated (and thus probably not the version that would be included in the Austerity theme) to allow removal of specific icons. I can't get more specific then that as I don't use desktop icons at all. But you might search the modules forum for various key words to find the post that mentioned it.

thanks for all the help...

in the few days that I have been using Litestep, I have switched to the K Gnome3 theme, and am now modifying it to suit my tastes.

I am currently not using any desktop icon modules, but if I do, I will do it from scratch, starting with whatever documentation I can find on it.

Modifying this theme is actually really fun, makes me want to start coding again.
