I want to have stats on the desktop, would I load rainmeter with my theme then use xlabel to make labels for the stats?

xlabel can display stats by itself. Rainmeter does fancy graphics and such.

You don't need a label module for this. You can create text labels w/ rainmeter.

yes, but rainmeter can get a little bit bloaty... though if you want cool graphics, you would (probably) want to go with rainmeter.
