What happens is, as time passes, a theme becomes incredibly hard to find. The good themes can be barely used, and the new ones are all that are used.
What is needed is sorting by date, downloads, comments, etc.
This would really help, and isn't actually a new idea these days, seems like every site has it but this one...
Sorting by date is done already...along with by name and author. Downloads will never be added because it proves to be a pissing contest of how many downloads you have vs. everyone else. I have never heard of sorting by comments and I don't really see the point. You could have 50 comments on a theme and have them all be negotive. We are working on other ways of doing some things...but right now its pending the rewrite of the site.
Yeah sorting by downloads and/or comments turns it into what winamp skins listing was like last time I was there. It was not pretty. People I think even had bots to boost ratings and all.
However, if the site is undergoing a rewrite soon an idea that may be worth looking into is having one page for each theme, not a page for each version. Some themes have multiple versions out there and it clogs the listing a bit. One notable one (though I like the theme) has 8 releases posted. Not 8 different releases but seven release candidates and a final version.
yeah...we are working towards that...but RL keeps getting in the way. Soon themes will resemble downloads and all will be right with the world of themes.
