ok well i just got this and i didnt like simplicity so i was going to try some of the other things i had before i got the litestep program. well i moved something i thought was a theme into the litestep thing and clicked it to be my theme. well now there is nothing on my screen except for my wallpaper and the only way to access things is by doing ctrl-alt-delete. plz help me to restore simplicity=)
IIRC (which isn't always the case) and you are using OTS you should be able to change back to your simpilicty by simply editing the step.rc. Also you can try CTRL+ALT+F1 To get a system popup from litestep when you can't see anything else :)
CTRL+ALT+F1 get the popup go to the run command type in explorer and navigate to the litestep directory, double click LSTS.exe and select simplicity.
Or choose any of the other methods Tres`ni mentioned
you proberly need the latest indiestep build for the 'bad theme' to make it work.
http://indiestep.sourceforge.net/
it good to see the old gal back ;)
CTRL+ALT+F1. Run 'edit'. Open c:\litestep\step.rc. Make it so the file only contains the following lines:
rcStep "step.rc"; Added by LSTS
dirTheme "$LitestepDir$themes\simplicity\"; Added by LSTS
include "$dirTheme$$rcStep$" ; Added by LSTS
CTRL+ALT+F!, recycle.
I'm also a newbie and have suffured this problem several times. I always have better luck doing things manually versus with LSTS, but what do I know!
if u are runnign XP u can always end the litestep process and start the default windows thing by typing explroer in after clicking file new task
aight well i have been trying what all u guys have been saying but i cant get my explorer to come up when i first log on my user. or even simplicity
plz help me out on this =)
zimmer, i have been having the same problem, and never gos away, but if you can get aim or something like i.e open type in c:\litestep or whever you saved it, and go to LSTS and select simplicity!! i wish i could get the dif. themes to work=(
In XP when installing - U should always have a spare Admin account for big dissasters(Of course not named Administrator!)
And when U install LiteSTEP choose only for current user.
Saved me alot of time.
just my 0.2$
Eh? You can always get to the task manager...
9x don't have the same task manager as NT/2k/XP - you can't run programs from it, you can only shut down or end tasks.
What version of windows are you running, Zimmer?
Yes, but "-E" was talking about XP. On 9x you could use ctrl-alt-f1.
