I just installed ls manually on a Laptop (XP)
It doesent have a connection so had to doit manually ussing diskets, everything went ok, except when I try to switch theme or refresh the theme list it says on the theme installer log."ERROR: could not find LitestepDir, exiting theme was not installed"
Litestep is on c:\ same as my pc (only dif is that mine is 98).
Everything else seems to work ok. any ideas.
please help.
Thanks,

unfortunatly with OTS2 you are required to have an internet connection of some type to install a theme. if it never has an internet connection you need to copy over all modules that the theme uses and put them in your modules directory manually then you should be ok.

Yeah, first thanks for answering.
I did that an the theme works ok,
The problem is when I try to switch theme,or refresh the theme list,or excecute the ThemeInstaller, anything to do with the ThemeInstaller gives my an ERROR: could not find LitestepDir on the Theme installer log.
Any Ideas, I?ll be trying to solve this all night.
I even tried the older versions here on the download section and same result.
Any Ideas, would be great
EDIT: OH I forgot I can switch editing the theme select.rc with no problem "Its the ThemeInstaller"cant find LSDirectory for some reason. And my themes relly on the themeInstaller for a lots of stuff.I got the 2 pcs in front of me, the LapXP(with the problem) and my pc98 (both same Ls setup)
Thanks a lot.

I believe the installer gets LiteStepDir from the registry: HKCU/Software/LiteStep/Installer/LiteStepDir (or maybe HKLM depending on install type)

This are the changes Setshell is making according to the log:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\system.ini\boot
shell=USR:Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon

Shell=c:\litestep\litestep.exe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Desktoprocess=1
SetShell code: 0
REBOOT :shell settings were changed

I looked in the registry and there is no entry under for Litestep or the Theme installer under:HKLM/software or HKCU/software
I have read all over the place for any reference on having to change additional registry besides what Shet Shell is doing and nothing.
Would you please give me some further guidance here.
What I did was just copied what I had (LS Directory)on my 98 machine onto c:\ drive on a XP laptop and run SetShell from the utilities foder, that seem to work ok (its changing the keys I mentioned) the LSThemeInstaller is the one that its doing what I explained.
Please help Thankyou,

Ok, RabidCow. THANKS A LOT you were correct.
I added :
HKCU/Software/LiteStep/Installer/LiteStepDir
c:\litestep
HKCU/Software/LiteStep/Installer/PersonalDir
c:\litestep\Personal
HKCU/Software/LiteStep/Installer/ThemesDir
c:\litestep\Themes
And everything is fine.
The 3 keys are requiered.
Men I would think this info should be somewhere (looked everywere and nothing)
I guess it only applys if you dont use the LSInstaller but whant to use the LSThemeInstaller
Well Im out of the woods.
Thanks again.
