Hello,
I looked around the forum to see if I could find an answer to what must be a common problem. The only thing is that I could not find enough information to solve what might be a simple problem. Once I had LiteStep installed, everything was fine. When I downloaded 2 themes (OTS-compliant)I could not get them to install. This is the Error I got:
Error: Could not locate module
Please check your configuration
I ended up reverting back to the default theme.
If I am having a configuration problem, what should I be looking for to reconfigure? If I am missing modules, where do I download them? If this helps, I am using a Toshiba Laptop, pentium2, Win98SE. I'm totally new at this and don't understand much. I'm open to the challenge and determined to have this thing working. Please help. Thankyou bunches!
Aquazone OTS2 and TrekFace, Both are suppose to be OTS2 complaiant. I also checked my system.ini file to be certain that it is in order and it is. It reads as
shell=c:\litestep\litestep.exe
I'm trying to find as much as I can on the installation, checking the read me files and looking for manuals in my laptop
It doesn't say which module couldn't be found?
No, it does not specify any at all. I'm looking through the html doc on configuration and can not seem to find out anything there yet.
The notes in the html manuals seem to tell alot but don't seem to give any step by step instructions on how to install everthing, not even trouble shooting...unless I overlooked something.
I was in earlier to ask for help installing LiteStep and that worked out fine, I was told to download the themes that are OTS compliant and it should be a piece of cake. uh-huh! yup! lol!
As a law of nature, i know that there is an answer for everything, I though reinstalling WindowsSE was hard enough, with all the DOS stuff and headaches. I'm not leaving this forum untill I get answers, even if I have to sit here in my pajama's in the forum while everyone is gone for the night. LOL!!!
Check the titlebar of the error message.
Common causes are that you are missing some support dll for the module such as msvcp70.dll, or you are trying to use a module that requires a newer version of Windows.
The only thing that appears in the title bar is:
c:\Program
and how do I search for msvcp70.dll if I can not even find the search tool in my startup menu?
If you happen to look back at what I had listed, "that is all" I had listed RabidCow, nothing else. Where are the experts? hehe! j/k
Here it is again RabidCow
C:\Program
Error: Could not locate module
Please check your configuration.
That is all, nothing else, nothing less. It leaves me no choice but to revert back to the default theme. This happened twice. If I try to go through without the module(s) I'd be f'd. Being that I'm new to this, it would have come in handy to locate a trouble shooter manual, maybe I'm just not aware.

I'm just looking at your html about Netload module RabidCow
I found part of the problem, I tried to download another theme, this time it was Venus OT S2. I found more files downloading from the internet: jdesk-0.73
icondesk-0.67
rabidvwm-1.01
lsslider-1.71
xLabellight-29
rainlender0.17.1
mz script-0.9-beta-12
I then did a reboot and tried to change from the default to Venus OT S2 and this time I got one of those illegal warnings
here:
Error:Could not locate module.
Please check your configuration
Again I was stuck reverting back to default, anyone awake? LOL!
Sounds like you're trying to load Win2k+ specific module on 9x.
oh? I check out another one called Transilvania, this time I was able to install "most" but not all. The Author of the theme had 4 files listed with what my laptop calls errors, lol
They are clockwork-0[1].62i, xlabellight-1[1].1, rain-0[1].19.1
and mzscript-0[1].9-beta_12
I located him through the themes area of this site and found instructions to renaming these 4 files by removing the [1] from each. now the problem is figuring out how to install them as well to make the theme run properly. His email is invalid. I got to realizing now that the problem is not within the LiteStep program, the problem seems to be more about themes with missing files or incorrect names. No wonder there are so many people having problems installing these themes. If any of you LS-guru's can help, this might actually
give me an open door to resolvong future problems with these themes. Thanks again to you and the previous replyers. :)
I find it odd that the creators of these themes don't always specify which OS are compliant with certainty. One of the 'read me' files I read had to do with one theme installation. The theme creator pointed out the functions but admitted to not knowing how to do an installation.
I just noticed my typos, oops!
Hello Guru's
By fluke I figured it out on my own, thanks
