Is there any VWMs for litestep that allow you to give a name to a desktop and display it in the VWM?

you could write the name in the vwm background image.

I don't think so. Unfortunately, while VWM functionality is awesome, both VWMs lack a little here and there in details of presentation (like naming them, or setting borders per-desk).

On thing you could do, I believe Pandora and Vodka Martini do it, is to have a label off to the side or below that says the workspace name/number.

You can name them by not using the VWM interface to them and using the !VWMSwitchToDesk or whatever bang. Then you can name them whatever you want and it really has nothing to do with VWM.

DeViLbOi's suggestion could also be used with labels for the workspaces, the only issue being no nice little window rectangles show up. You could also overlay a label on the center of each VWM, but I've done that before, and it is definitely not worth the hassle...though I might be able to script it OK w/ xLabel, if !labelCreate would work (or you could have numerous labels off-screen, and move them to the VWMs if needed...still a minor hassle)
