I just tried to install litestep on my XP-pro box. When I was done everything seemed to work perfect except my firewall. (Norton Internet Security)

When litestep starts up i get these messages:

http://www.freewebs.com/trollskogen/nortonerror.jpg
-Among with some other just with different dlls (all connected to the norton program)

After closing all the error messages I press ctr+alt+del and find ccApp.exe running and I also notice my norton antivirus running smoothly. Then I tried to get start up the firewall manually:

I get none of these errors when I boot up without litestep. Can somebody please help me? If I cant figure this out I have to go back to explorer!

Amazing...the same error twice in one week posted on the boards. At least the other error was posted in the right category. Maybe I need to make a forum FAQ and start stealing peoples sigs to say "Im too stupid to read the FAQ!"

... I reconed the other was posted in the wrong category since nobody cared to answer it.

wols tracked the problem down to ccevt.dll; however, he states that any supporting DLL could cause the issue and should be copied to your system32 folder.

I didn't track it down.Ssomeone in #litestep who had that problem reported that NIS is complaining about a missing DLL. Since $windir$\system32 is always in the DLL search path, any DLL in there is loaded automatically. So copy any DLL NIS is complaining about into windows\system32

Which exact version of NIS is this btw?

I tried to copy the dlls to system32 folder, but without any luck. I still get the same error messages.

Im using 6.0.4.35 , 2003 edition.

I assume all of those .dlls are in your NIS folder where the .exe is?

They are, and as mentioned in my first post, all works perfectly when im booting up without litestep. One curriosity though is that the antivirus part of it works without problems at all.

Can you launch it manually under LS? Via a filemanager or something.

Finaly I got this bastart upp and working again :D I just went into the IS directory and ran every exe file I could find. Then when I tried starting ccApp.exe again it worked perfect. Now I just have to use some time figuring out exacly wich files to run at startup.

Thanks for all your help. But still I have a little quiestion, how do I start those exe files at startup? Should I add some !execute [filename] into step.rc?

That sounds like ccApp.exe depends on some other program being started first. Maybe LS executes startup apps in the wrong order. Can you confirm this? If so, can you figure out which .exe needs to be running for ccApp to start?

If it is actually depending on another .exe to be run first, then use: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml to determine whether or not the .exe it requires is listed in the output autoruns gives you. Let us know if it is or is not. Thanks.
