Older computers and LS Thread last updated on 2004-05-09 09:41:15

I have a older model computer that's home-made, and I'm wondering if a minimalistic LS theme would make it run any faster. Here are the specs of the computer:

Cyrix 150Mhz CPU
32MB RAM
1.5GB HDD
8x CD-ROM
SiS 6326 PCI Video
No Sound
No Modem or Ethernet

It's not the best, but it was made from spare parts lying around (you guys probably know how that goes).

oh my god, from which museum did you steal that? ;)

to be serious, which os do you have running on it? if it's windows 95 second version (?) or above, i think that should make it.

hehe...its bigger and badder than my mail server. :) If you did up the right LS theme for it by yourself...yah...it would run faster. When I first started using LS it was on a 486 DX2 66 so you should be ok. Yer better off throwing Linux on it and learning though.

Yeah, forgot some detail, it's Windows 98 SE.

And I have like 10 Linux distros, I like Linux a lot, but unfortunately, Wine doesn't emulate the Windows program I need (mainly because of all the runtimes and other programs required to run it such as Microsoft .NET Framework).

Which theme would you guys recommend for a minimalistic system like that?

if you know how to, build your own, so you can always see what works on your machine.
