I installed litestep on win95 but before it starts, and error message appears. it says "LSAPI.DLL linked to missing blahblah" and it hangs. How can i correct it?
i dunno, but i think i've heard that there are comatibility problems between win98 and lsapi.dll. but i may be wrong. let's hope someone more experienced comes around and gives his/her opinion about it ;)
sry: between win95 and lsapi.dll
have you installed the latest indie build? if not, go here and get it:
http://indiestep.sourceforge.net/
I've had similar problems getting any IndieStep after Omar's LS Installer 2.0 to work in win95. I recommend, instead of upgrading, downgrading to earlier versions. I know for a fact that the April '02 builds work fairly well on win95. (The only problem with that is the syntax changes in the core modules since then.)
It's painful work, constantly switching shells and rebooting just to find a build that won't crash on win95. The [F8] key and EDIT command are your friends. :)
Up or down, here's hoping your grading works.
you need to up- or downgrade to a newer/older Indie LS build. Recently there was a single Indie LS build which broke Win95 compatibility, unfortunately that's the exact same build that comes with the Installer. The bug was only discovered AFTER the installer had been compiled sadly.
I'd advise getting a shell manager to knock-out some of the shell-switching pain. I've been using Carapace for a while, and it's made things MUCH easier!

I run LS on Win95 too, I also got the latest build, and also it said it couldnt find some missing .dll. However some IRC dude and I figured it was the addition of the !EmptyRecycleBin bang that borke 95 compatability.
I use all the other files in the build apart from LSapi.dll
and seeing that the only change (see changes.txt) was the emptyrecycle bang Im not really missing out on any important developments.
umm... that !EmptyRecycleBin is EXACTLY what was fixed in the later builds...
but seems to break win95 comp... yes ?
The 2002-12-09 build was incompatible to Win95 because of the !EmptyRecycleBin thingy. All builds more recent than that should not be affected.
