I just got a new laptop (IBM thinkpad R50p) with Windows XP.

So I chose litestep as shell (LiteStep Installer (omar) , litestep 0.24.7 RC 1)

When I log on some of the IBM thinkpad utilities crash (easyeject manager, thinkpad hotkeymanager etc) - not always the same ones. Can this be corrected.

Thanks in advance,
Dalion

I have the same problem with a T40 laptop. As you said it is not always the same set that fails.

If there's some kind of battery monitor you might want to try to disable that, iirc there were reports about those misbehaving sometimes under LS.

Other than that there isn't much that can be done though. The error descriptions are a little too vague for that. Try to figure out if there's a single culprit (for example the first of those utilities that is started) which is causing the others to crash too.

I run LS on a T30 laptop and haven't experienced any problems. I don't explicitly use these utilities though.

After turning off the battery monitor in several places and still having no success, I think I've tracked this down to a problem with the "Battery Maximizer" feature. What seems to have worked for me is to go into Control Panel -> ThinkPad Configuration -> Option tab -> Customize, and then uncheck the "Add Battery MaxiMiser Guage on Task Bar" option. I'm also on WinXP and a thinkpad T41. Life with litestep is much better now...
