icondesk & zorder Thread last updated on 2004-04-03 02:36:17

I'm using icondesk as a quick launch replacement. It's positioned in a protected area. The problem is when a window "slides" under it, the icons don't stay on top. My vwm & systray stay on top but not icondesk.

I got the zorder module (.2) and dug up ilmcuts older version (.1) that contains winspy to figure out the classname for icondesk. When I check icondesk though, it doesn't display the classname.
Any ideas?
thanks

don't use icondesk. use labels, xlabels, or shortcuts.

funny, last week, someone told me, on a different issue, don't use shortcuts use labels!

I'd like to just be able to drag shortcuts into my quicklaunch dir and wa-la, they display. I'll check into these though and see if I can simulate a quick launch replacement. thx

icondesk can not be ontop. They are drawn directly onto the desktop window (and thus why there is no class name).

jugg: I've never used icondesk (but, who knows ?) and I've heard it was incompatible with jdesk.
What's the true ?

Hmm... according to the help file, icondesk should work with jdesk (if non-threaded)
Guess I'll test it soon...
