Free moving Icons on desktop? Thread last updated on 2004-05-07 17:48:22

Hi, I am new to Litestep, and I am not sure if there's anyone who asked this question before, although I tried to look into previous posts and documents, I might have missed out the critical information which is lying somewhere...

Ok... here is my question, is there anyway to make Litestep operate like original window style of draging a group of icons on desktop, and freely arrange them?

this is a bit of problems for me because I like to put files I am working on on the desktop, and because I cant/donno how to select them together, or arrange them, using Litestep atm is still a major draw back.

Apology if this is the wrong section to post this question, and thanks in advance for any answers.

i donno if that can be done. but i think u can have a desktop module allow drag and drop... and have icondesk show the icons on the desktop... in a way.... but i donnno about grouping / selecting in groups...
deskfolders may be... but they are buggy...

Sure it can be done. Someone (Andymon) has done some excellent work in creating the explorer functionality we all like (functionality- not explorer). The latest version has some nice improvements you will like (2.5.5).

I believe rafc is referring to xlabel 2.5.5... it's worth checking out.

Actually not, I was referring to xlabel 2.8.5 :) Subtle difference.

Funny, it's the second time today I make the mistake. I saw the new version (2.8.5) was out and ofcourse wanted to try it, so I changed my rc file accidentily to 2.5.5, and immediately noticed something that didn't work as expected and make me produce an error. I was thinking about writing Andymon a mail notifying him of those bugs when I saw I made the version mistake.

Where can I get it, and how do I install it? Can't find it under downloads
