Systray icons after recycle Thread last updated on 2004-03-24 13:02:08

I am using the studio28v3 theme. After recycling, some of my systray icons disappear. The icon for AIM disappears, but can be gotten back by alt-tabbing and minimizing/maximizing again. With other things such as Bit Torrent windows, although clearly running by a look at the process list, I cannot regain control of them.

In general, it seems as if any icon that changes on the tray, either by me modifying it (via minimizing and maximizing), or of its own accord (e.g. ZoneAlarm's meters for network access) do appear after a recycle.

Because of the lack of a search function for the boards, I manually looked through a few pages of posts but didn't find anything addressing this particular subject. I apologize in advance if I missed any post on it.

That being said, does anyone know how to remedy this problem?

Oh, I forgot to mention this as well. If I have Winamp open, its icon will disappear from the main taskbar in this theme. Even though I can alt-tab to it, nothing will make the icon reappear in the taskbar except restarting it.

Are you sure you're !recycling and not restarting litestep.exe? Which systray module do you use? The only one which may show this behavior is grdtray (which was outdated even in 2001). If you use systray2 or vtray we may have to investigate this a bit more.

I'm pretty new to litestep, but in the modules subdirectory here are some DLL's: vtray-1.06 taskbar3-0.306_alpha-3

I have no systray2 or grdtray DLL. And yes, I'm sure I'm recycling.. I'm right clicking on the desktop and going to litestep->recycle

However, the exact same stuff happens with disappearing icons if I restart litestep.

nobby, see if you have something like trayserve.exe or trayserver.exe running. if you do, stop it, and disable it from running, then see if the problem continues to happen.
