I'm using DeskFolders 2.0 beta 4 and ran into the transparency issue. The problem is, I don't know what- or where- the "DeskFolderPaintHack" item is , or how to write it into my step.rc. any help would be appreciated.

while i'm here, does anyone know if there's a module for changing the appearance of the desktop based on a timed event (ie. clock turns to 6 o'clock and the wallpaper changes colour)?

just add "DeskFolderPaintHack" (w/o quotes) to your personal.rc

as for the timed event try the module called alarm along with a wallpaper module (only one that comes to mind is lswchanger) or some third-party executable

Note that unless you are on 9x/ME you might want to look into IconDesk as a deskfolders replacement (deskfolders is known to be a bit buggy).

Unless I'm missing something (possible) in the docs, IconDesk doesn't do in-place browsing, scrolling or stay on top. That's the reason I'm using DeskFolders. I am using icondesk for my quicklaunch replacement though because it does transparency.
