Howdy,

seems this problem only came up after running Litestep.

When i watch a video in Windows Media Player on Win2000 (regardless of the file type), it'll play the first couple seconds, then go to a black screen, but keep streaming audio.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I have the same problem, except the video disappeares whenever I go fullscreen through WinMedia player. When I use my DVD player/3rd party video players like ATI's multimedia center or CoreMediaPlayer, the screen is completely black no matter what. The audio streams normally. This problem does not occur under Explorer shell running.

I am a bit baffled by this, but I won't give up until I find a source of this problem & fix it ^_^

Any help/suggestions would be very helpful too...

OK, I found the "problem" its going back to the old transparency bug in Win2k. Basically, if the pixel at (0, 0) coordinates [top left corner] has a transparency parameter enabled, even if that parameter holds 100% opaqueness, some video players will not show video.

What surprised me is that this pixel can also be under another window, and still obstruct the ability of video players. I was pretty confident that the bug would not apply if the pixel is covered by a window w/o any transparency settings. Maybe this is just my computer being strange...

Well, case closed for now. There were older threads about this too: http://www.litestep.net/index.php?section=4&action=view&catId=1&id=1749&hl=video [I wonder if this link will work] :)
