Where is the %litestepdir% variable defined? My step.rc has moduledir, personaldir, and themesdir defined with litestepdir.

$LiteStepDir$ is defined when LS starts up along with about 30 other evars. http://lsdocs.shellfront.org/litestep.php

Thanks for the information and link. If I had chosen c:\comm\litestep instead of c:\litestep would this have been detected or would the installation software have asked me for the information?

Yeah, it's taken from the path that you start LiteStep.exe from. If you move LiteStep.exe (and then run it), the value of $LiteStepDir$ and all the paths that rely on it will change.
