Mouse and Keyboard lock on Compaq N800c laptop Thread last updated on 2004-02-23 23:26:30

I installed on a Compaq N800c laptop - now every 2-3 times I boot, the keyboard and mouse lock but the taskbar icons continue to work (network icons flash, clock is accurate). No key combination responds, including ctl-alt-del. I uninstalled, but problem persists. Problem does not occur when logging in under a profile which has not been touched by LiteStep. Any suggestions?

Set that users shell back to explorer and reinstall LS.

Sorry - already uninstalled LS. I don't want to reinstall it. How do I get the system back to a stable state?

it still happens after you removed LS?

Yes, it continued to be screwed after I uninstalled, but only for the user for whom LS was activated. Other profiles were fine. Apparently, the uninstaller leaves artifacts. I used WinXP's system restore option to roll it back to the day I instaled LS. All is ok now. I'll only be installing LS on test machines from now on.
