I just tried loading litestep.exe on my WinXP pro system after having succes on a 2k system. However, after the reboot, the start-up items start loading, everything looked fine and all went to hell.
-Lost my desktop icons
-Started receiving numerious "end task" pop-ups starting with a trackpad conflict to program conflicts. These were the type of dialogue boxes that asked if you want to send an error to MS or debug.
-Lost all right and left click functionality (actually never had it)
-Had to perform and hard restart

After shut down and a reboot, I received the same result which is, the shell starts to load then seems to run into numerous conflicts resulting in the above scenerio.

I had to reboot again and get my system back, as soon as the UI loaded, and before my dsktop icons dissappeared, I double clicked the "explorer shell" icon...the sytem froze again, rebooted and to my relief the explorer shell re-emerged.

What happened and what am I doing run. After having numerous work places on my 2k machine, I need it on my XP machine. Or is there another option.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

uhmmm...sounds like you have a corrupted install. Did you reinstall LS yet?

No...Actually, I was too nervous to it try again. Just curious if anybody else has experienced the same or similiar issues.

Meanwhile, many of the errors seemed to be conflicts with IBM pre-installed apps.

What do you think?

The only thing I can think of right now is that there were reports about conflicts on IBM laptops with the battery meter. So you might want to disable that (if you're on a laptop at all).

Does this to me from time to time.

Just alt-ctrl-del the litestep process, and from the same window run->litestep folder. Double-click litestep.exe and you should be golden. I have no idea why it happens.
