I have this weird problem... I installed LS and since then Internet explorer is unable to go on the internet... but... The file manager (explorere) is able to go on the internet... I use win 98. can someone help?
LiteStep does not alter Internet Explorer in any way. Sounds like something in your IE config became corrupted and should be reinstalled.
I never heard 'bout something like this, even in the earlier versions of Litestep. Like DeViLbOi said, it must be something corrupted in windows.
When I uninstall Litestep IE works fine again.. only whne litestep is running IE says the pages cannot be displayed but in the filemanager it can go on the internet...
This only happens when I run Litestep so I dont think that it has to do with my windows setting or corruption
there is nothing in LiteStep to mess with it. LiteStep does not touch your TCP/IP Properties, it does not touch your DNS Information, and it does not touch Internet Explorer.
start using opera, mozilla or netscape, or upgrade your ie to a newer version.
When you're sick of IE, I can really recommend Opera!
I really can't recommend Opera. It's lousy at styling. I love the concept of Opera but I like to wiev the webpages as they were intended (using the W3C standarts).
Give a try to Phoenix (a fast and light version of Mozilla)...
As far as I know, Opera is the only browser that actually conforms to W3C standards. I know for a fact IE does not. Most of the problems you might see (ESPECIALLY from MS sites) are due to improperly configured style sheets being sent after recognizing that the browser is Opera. Microsoft sites do in fact do just that.
hey guys... maybe its not Litestep that causes the problem, maybe it is the cause ... whatever... I'm telling the truth here.. since Litestep is installed IE doesn't work anymore but via the filemanager I can go onto the internet. I wont use Opera... Why install an other browser since My system has one built in that tolerates alomst any webpage and is flexible with CSS and HTML. Netscape sux ... as always... mozilla has some bugs to fix and Opera isn't free. btw... I do use that latest version of IE and since I cannot use it with Litestep I will be forced to return to windows.... My machine was working fine till Litestep... Internet is very important in what I do so I have to make a choice...
nice interface or functionality?
what will it be?

"nice interface or functionality?
what will it be?"
answer: Both, thank you.
well... since IE works fine when LS is not loaded... the choice has been made.
sorry to see that I didn't really get any help for my specific problem.
I want to use IE since Im a developper and have to know how the pages look on the most used browser. Litestep refuses to allow IE to work... well... bye LS.
what about running litestep ontop of explorer? i know it´s a waste of resources, but maybe e-racoon likes the idea...
e-racoon, which versions of Windows and IE are you using? You said Win98, but is that plain or SE?
What kind of true IT person uses Windows 98 for anything? I still say something was done to IE before LS was installed and a reinstall of IE would fix everything.
maybe you should use Babya System as shell. it´s developed on Windows 98 :P
I used 98plain only because I had no upgrade path, even to SE. I wouldn't think of using it for anything but a personal desktop/laptop OS, and what an unpleasant experience it was. If only the latest builds/modules worked on 95, man that was so much faster and easier...
I've never had IE stop working simply because I switched to LS. Scratch that; the Windows Update wouldn't work unless I had IE up and pointed at a Web site or page.
For serious IT work, I recommend *nix (unix, linux, bsd, even macosx), but if you're locked into the Windows "solution," the NT versions are best. (nt4, 2k, xp, lh ;)
I use Windows 98SE as a workstation... I only have a PII (lack of money)
and in contrary to what DeViLbOi pretends, nothing has been done to IE... It works incredibly well with explorer loaded but ... you know the story. anyway the version of my IE is 6.0.2800.1106 under win 98 SE v.4.10.4444 A.
for my development work I use Debian linux (Pentium 75 Mhz)without Xwindows since I only program in SQL and rxml.
IE is an advanced browser without any fancy thingies. I dont need them!
I just need a browser that does what I require without all kinds of stuff like netscape, mozilla and other Opera.
Since I can't use IE under Litestep... i'll have to wait for a solution.
