Intellimouse buttons not working...any workaround? Thread last updated on 2003-03-02 14:21:45

I have an Intellimouse Optical which has two buttons on the side, which in [Internet] Explorer, left button was "Back" and right button was "Forward" and I love this mouse for browser using. However with LiteStep running, these buttons don't work. Is there any fix for this? Intellipoint is not running in my systray, but it is still installed. Is this just a general "hey I'm not running Explorer, and Intellipoint only runs under Explorer" problem, or is there something I can config with the mouse? I'm using the standard "Simplicity" theme btw.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice. =)

I think the problem may be that the drivers for the mouse are not been loaded when Litestep start. You can put a shortcut in your start menu folder, or, using Shellon, you can make a script to load the drivers before you load the shell.
Hope that's usefull.

i had the same problem, but like Al said, just load the drivers (mouse properties in the control panel) first, then you should be good to go.

something weird came to my mind. Maybe there's an atempt by Micro$oft to force people who use their hardwares to use Explorer. If you use an alternative shell you always have something not working, the drivers wont work, etc..., etc...
Well, I will not be surprised :P

bill is enemy! windows isn't actually bad, but it's not fair that M$ tries to force people to do everything in "their way".

I have the same mouse... and I nerver use the fourth and fifth buttons. But I know some modules can manage these. In fact I never know what action to assign to them.
Have ideas, zero2dash ?
