ONLY 6 ICONS ARE SHOWING ON THE DESKTOP AT ANY ONE TIME AND THEY ARE ALL POSITIONED ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. WILL NOT ALLOW ANY MORE SHORTCUTS ON THE DESKTOP. WHY!

Maybe a "caps lock key" problem? :)
Seriously now: we need more information, like what module you're using, theme, OS... but I think DeViLbOi is right, check your configuration.
