Using the Windows Global IME with LS Thread last updated on 2004-02-07 08:00:57

I have been using Litestep for a little over a year now and have really enjoyed my experience with it. So far every problem I've come against I have been able to fix. Unfortunatly, I think I have met my match. I am a student of Japanese and use the Global IME to be able to type in Japanese in Windows. Sadly it seems that the IME is pretty integrated with Explorer. I have a seperate account on my coimputer to use the IME with, but it would be great to find a fix (regfix, module, whatever). I'm not what I woudl call a programer, but I can find my way around. Any help would be nice, even if just to say I'm screwed for the time being. BTW, I am running LS 0.24.7 RC1 with a manual install in the registry. Again, thanks for any help.

Wellllll... I could point you to one of the dozens of threads that already discuss this... but all they say is
a) it works fine on all windows versions except for XP and
b) on XP you won't get the blue icon to show up, but you can use the hotkey (alt-shift?) to switch between input languages if you select "show language bar on desktop" in the control panel.

hotkey doesn't work for me =\

Everything is configured mperfectly in the regional and language settings in the control panel. It works fine on my other users that use the explorer shell. Is there something special I need to do to make it work in LS?

Please point out one of these dozens of threads, if you don't mind. Thanks.

or, you could search for one yourself. just type in "language", hit search, and voila.

And search is disabled, and has been for a few months now.

Global Search was disabled...but category search was not.

Well you do have to change that option in the control panel for it to work. Might have been the other way around though, try disabling it as well.
