Skin-specific errors Thread last updated on 2004-03-16 04:53:24

Apologies if this was covered in other threads. I looked through them but didn't see this issue mentioned, so I'm starting a new one.

I'm attempting to use Gathering 1.0 under the current version of Omar's LiteStep Installer. I haven't changed any of the theme or skin code; the errors that I'm getting are from the default install. I'm running this on a Windows XP SP1a box with the personal and theme directories located under %appdata%\LiteStep.

The problem is that I'm receiving different errors from different skins. The only one that I'm able to use without errors is Thin. When using the Austerity, Azul, Breeze or Minimalix skins I receive an error from RabidVWM stating that the settings file could not be located. When using the Gathering skin I get an error stating that lsbox could not be initialized ("Exception during module initialization").

As I wrote, I have not changed any of the default settings; the same versions of lsbox, RabidVWM, etc. are being loaded for all of the skins, but Thin is the only one that works. I've tried using the "reset all positions to default" menu entry but without any effect.

I suspect that these errors are related to load order (Thin is the only skin that loads RabidVWM settings from an external file) but I'm not sure what to change for the other skins to correct it.

Is this a known issue? Any suggestions on where to start trying to fix this?

TIA.

hmm... this seems to be an system specific error like others are.

We tested Gathering on different systems and on every it works great, but some systems seems to dislike that modules combination. nobody could tell us why :-s

I was wondering if it might be something specific to my system... the thing that throws me off was that the Thin skin always works even when the others don't.

I'll hack at the code and see what I can come up with. If I manage a fix, should I e-mail the files to you, or put them somewhere you can download them?
