litestep on top of fullscreen games Thread last updated on 2004-01-20 11:28:31

For some reason litestep has suddenly decided to show up on top of fullscreen stuff, like games. It's not just one module and it's not all games. It happened both in orb and in the theme I jus finished for myself, so rainmeter and lsbox3.0pre do it, and so far they appear on top of il-2 sturmovik and jdoom, but not doom legacy or zsnes. I don't think it happens with lsbox2.95. This has never happened before and I can't think of any reason why it would have started now.

EDIT: Also, it seems to only happen when there are no other modules visible. I took another of my themes that used lsbox30pre and it didn't happen, but when I removed the tasks, labels, and rainmeter from the desktop it started happening again. I think the reason it didn't happen with 2.95 was because rainlendar was loaded in the background.

try calling !togglemodules before starting the game and after finishing (binding it to a hotkey is the easiest way). putting LSAutoHideModules in your step.rc will fix this as well, but occasionally it will hide modules during non full screen apps, most commonly certain installers.

maybe systemevents.dll could be useful

Thanks for the LSAutoHideModules tip, I never heard of that one before. That does the trick, I don't mind my box disappearing in the occasional installer. I still don't understand why this suddenly started happening though. Themes that I've used for months and never had any problems were doing it. Weird.

Actually it seems that LSAutoHideModules hides whenever I maximize anything.

I've found LSAutoHideModules to behave a bit oddly at times also. I had the same problem where it was hiding when maximising. I can't remember what I did to fix it (probably nothing) but try quiting LS and starting it again, or rebooting your PC. I know recycling didn't work.

It's definitely wierd, I turned autohide off, but it didn't take effect until after I rebooted. I think I'll just use my !togglemodules hotkey from now on. Hopefully this problem will eventually go away as randomly as it started.

For changes in settings starting with "LS" to take effect you need to restart litestep.exe, a !recycle is not enough.
I'd just use the !HideModules/!ShowModules !bangs.

Lol, I turned autohidemodules off, and restarted and now the problem seems to be gone. :p Weird.
