IconDesk .68 Thread last updated on 2004-01-14 01:08:56

It's obviously something I'm just not getting right, but when I use IconDesk all my .zip's and folders show up with the default folder icon (I use IconPackager so even my folders shouldn't be using the default folder icon)...when I use older versions (.66) the .zip's have the correct icon but my folder's have the deafault system icon.

The only thing I can see that may be causing an issue is that I don't use Winzip (I use WinRAR) but I installed Winzip, rebooted and it has no effect.

Thanks,
ng

Don't forget to email the module writer if no one here knows a workaround, else he might never get aware of this problem.

Planning to, just wanted to give a day or so to see if it's something I am doing wrong or not.

are you running xp? because it might be something to do with xp's zip file shell integration... i have noticed this problem though

Hmm, the XP zip integration could be the issue. I just checked a Win2k box and noticed that on it .zip's have a file type description of WinRar Archive while in XP it's WinRar Zip Archive. I'm guessing that XP handles zip's differently. Going to install litestep with the same theme on a Win2k machine at work today and see what happens with the zips.

does icondesk even work on win98? because i can't get any version of it to run for more than a few seconds before LS crashes.

Crashes for me as well. Try emailing Sci; I think it's the icon extraction code.
