(I used to use LiteStep)...but what it used to do was take Windows close to 5 minutes to start up. If you need to know..I have a:
Intel Pentium 4 3 Ghz
Windows XP Home
512 MB RAM
Thats all thats important I think. I'm wondering why was it doing that?
disable the fancy schmancy login and go back to the classic login...bops right in.
It's a known problem, there are threads all over the forums about it. Litestep and everything is already loaded, it's just that the welcome screen doesn't want to disappear. At the moment the only known workarounds are: a) use classic logon b) press ctrl-alt-del after the welcome screen appears.
make one of these threads a permanent thread at the top so people stop posting it
Thread title should probably be edited though, I had no idea what it was about or that I even commented here already. =)
EDIT: Thanks, much better now :)
maybe u could kill logonuix.exe with Litestep? to make that screen go away?
well, since i only hybernate all the time - i dont mind anyway :D
Can you be so kind as to post how to enable classic login mode on WinXP? I know I've seen it before, but now it's completely eluding me...
Control Panel => User Accounts => Change how user log on and off
Well I feel sheepish...Thanks
The ctrl-alt-del (twice, btw) at welcome screen and manually logging in does not resolve this issue. Welcome screen comes back after you hit enter.
Looks like the only current solution is no welcome screen - That sucks
Oops, miscommunication. When I said "welcome screen" I meant the screen that appears *after* you've logged in. Give it a few seconds, then press ctrl-alt-delete. It'll bring up task manager but it'll also close that annoying welcome screen thingy.
also the update that is in beta fixes this
any ideas for when it will come out of beta?
if you use XP powertools, you can get it to autologin for you too, on the classic login. And hence completely bypass any login screens fullstop, which will start you straight into XP... for those of you who hate typing in login names etc.. assuming of course that there is only 1 user on the machine.

Control Panel => User Accounts => Change how user log on and off
Worked wonders for my login time , thanks :)
Update to the RC3 build and the bug is fixed, as stated by iceyj.
