deskfolders and lsxcommand Thread last updated on 2004-01-08 17:08:46

Hello, I recently upgraded [well, reinstalled] Litestep 0.24.7 Beta 4 and am having some problems with deskfolders-2.0-b4 [came with the install and austerity theme]. I'm running Windows98.

The icons on the desktop are rarely, if ever, the correct icons. Sometimes they are Adobe icons, Winamp icons, text document icons, or "unknown filetype" icons [even though it is a known type]. Any suggestions?

Also, the lsxcommand module isn't letting me click on it to type in commands. Is there an option turned off somewhere, perhaps?

Thanks for any help.

Well, are you saying it's a compatibility problem [they don't work properly on Win98] or that Win98 sucks?

If it's the latter, I already know. I'll get around to W2K once I upgrade my hardware.

deskfolders is a buggy module in general... its really the only option available for desktop icons on win9x though. also, lsxcommand shouldnt even be on the desktop to start with... press ctrl+shift+x to bring it up.

I was under the impression that the "winamp" song title area doubled as the lsxcommand box on-click. A theme I had used before, Glass, was that way, but perhaps it was just specific to that theme.

"but perhaps it was just specific to that theme". it was. other themes could also have it, but only if the themer writes it that way.
