DOS in litestep Thread last updated on 2003-03-03 11:52:52

I'm new to Litestep, and I love the customization. But I saw a screenshot of a destop with dos (maybe dos-prompt) seemingly integrated onto the desktop. Not sure if this was done with litestep, so I was just wondering if anyone know anyway to do this? Any help would be appreciated.

are you sure it was dos? there's quite a few command prompt-like modules which can be made to look kinda like dos.

are you sure it was integrated into the desktop, or was it just an open dos command prompt window?... and what OS are you running?

it mght have been console, or console2, but i remeber a theme that looked like dos, i think it was called DOS2000.

It wasn't a window, it was integrated, but I'm not sure it wasn't a prompt. I'm running xp.

I bet you it was faked with a transparent console application.

I've seen it too. Not sure where. The dos-prompt was in the top left corner directly on the desktop. it could be a transparent dos-console with no window-title. it could also just be a background image (that would be weird though).

There's also dTerm. I'm not sure were to get it, so just search Google. If needed, I can email it to you.

console2 with lsh as %comspec% is nice. (what a nice sentence that was.) go see http://www.lokai.net for them

I know that's available for the Windows port of Blackbox, but I'm not aware of one for Litestep.

Couldn't have been coolmoon or samuraize?

OpaqueEcho: that´s not true. neither bb4win nor BlueBox have this.
Knarf: both Coolmon and Samurize are metering tools.

it´s either:

eConsole http://www.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~corion/econsole/
Console2 http://www.lokai.net/
dTerm http://www.shellfront.org/utils

or (my favorite):
Console http://sourceforge.net/projects/console/

That was probably Necro's screenie over on Shellfront. :)~~~~

IIRC, that's dterm running on 2k (xp?). Too bad I'm still stuck in dos-kernel winders. :(
