Error Loading Themes Thread last updated on 2003-12-15 21:03:27

Im using win98se and when i got litestep as my shell, it worked perfect with the default theme (which was austerity) but when i loaded a new theme (21 was the first theme i tried) it asked for some files it needed, downloaded them, and seemed like it would work. But when it loaded the theme, the only thing that showed was the VWM. The right-click menu works perfect also, but no [shift]+[left-click] menu.

Now whenever i try to load a new them it doesn't even ask for the files it needs, it just recycles litestep and stays at the theme i was already using. The themes i tried are: 21, Sage, DarkSpace, Resonance, and Phantom. So far only the default works, other than that 21 at least is able to get the menu to change (which is a nice popup menu by the way)

So to sum up, i need help getting themes to load right, and turning on the [shift]+[left-click] popup. and also, i already know thats its set right in the personal.rc file. Thanks in advance for any help i get :-)

"Now whenever i try to load a new them it doesn't even ask for the files it needs"

It may not need to if the files were already downloaded when using other themes.

"the only thing that showed was the VWM"

I've just tried 21 and if you are running a screen resolution less than 1280 x 1024 I believe all the other elements of this theme are positioned off the screen. You can correct this yourself by modifying the box files with the correct X and Y locations for the element (refer to $resolutionx$ $resolutiony$). I'll let the author know of this mistake.

As for the !ThemePopup, I have answered this in your other thread.

thanks for the resolution tip, i can't believe i didn't think of that. and what i meant to say happens when i load other themes, is that when i change to a theme other than 21, it doesn't load. it asks if i want to revert to default setting, and i click no, but it still stays at 21. the austerity is the only theme that loads now.

Plus, i checked my settings in the personal.rc and some other things, and they are as they should be, but still the !ThemePopup doesn't work.

Like I said, I've explained why this isn't working in your other thread about simplfying 21.
