This has been driving me insane, I have been working on my litestep themes for a while now and at one point (i have no clue what changed) my system tray just stoped updating - it loads up one or two icons if i freshly start windows up, but after that a recycle/quit/load just blanks it out compleatly.

I have tried vtray, systray2, systray2-2.0.1.
No theme i have will fully use the systray now. It hampers my use of winamp/colorpad/etc and i am nearing on switching back to explorer.

Please help (i searched the forums already with no related topic found).

Have you ever installed DesktopX?

Are you booting directly into LS, or do you hit Explorer first?

Directly into LS.

what about ilmcuts question? or to be more specific, do you have a process starting called trayserv.exe (I believe that's what it is)? if so, that could cause this problem, as it tries to take over control of the systray.

Already knew the issue with trayserv made sure it didn't load, it wasn't that. I actualy ended up fixing it with a fresh install from the newest ots2 based installer oddly.
Now on to the problem with ls loading default icons
