Ok im a first time user of litestep, i see when i ctrl alt delete that explorer is still running why is this? how do i run litestep without explorer at all? and also thank you for offering an answer to leave the poorly designed xp gui.
Read the thread "LiteStep and Explorer Fighting"
Explorer is still running because it is the OS as well as the shell. You might also be running Litestep on top of the Explorer shell. In either case, you will still see Explorer running as a task (because it's the OS, and you need an OS to operate your PC).
motub, what you said makes no sense. explorer does not always run when you're in litestep. however, if you have windows explorer open it would be there. just do as DeViLbOi suggested SloStoner
Yeah i found my problem. I had forgot to point the evar to Directory Opus (my choice for file manager), so therefore it was of course loading explorer as the file manager and hence why i saw it listed in the operations list. Duh me!..hehe...Now for the new battle of mastering the control of my themes...
motub...
Explorer.exe is the shell [GUI] and the file manager. It is not the OS [kernel].
Run LiteSTEP as the shell and, say, Powerdesk as your file manager and you won't 'see' Exploder at all....;)
If you do not set LS as the shell for both the user and machine it will do this. You can either set both or do as Jafo said.
