is there a way to have an embeded command comsole on the desktop, or as one of the multi desktops? (Prefer the second)

Quick Launch Bars can be made with shortcuts, labels, popups or whatever you like, but screen-embedded command consoles are a tougher one.

I remember needing one myself some time ago but nowadays I've used Bash and the windows shell feels too stiff to use.

They say Bash is for Windows too but I haven't bothered.

using rabidvwm you can assign CMD.EXE to open on a particular desktop on startup..

can i use something like LSXCommand but that outputs data like the cmd prompt. I need something that will do things like listing dir, moving files, ping... thinks like that.

there's a quicklaunch module... if only i remembered the name of it. however it has been asked before so do a small search and u should find it :)
