I have the latest build of Litestep running along with the latest version of Windowblinds. It looks perfect in every program except explorer. So basically, the theme is in every facet of the OS fine except when I browse the files on my computer where it shows the default Windows theme. The problem is only there while Litestep is running. If I forcibly terminate Litestep and then open up an explorer window, it looks perfect. I even tried going into Windowblinds and setting a per application setting for explorer.exe (and even tried litestep.exe) and it still showed the default windows theme. Please help me! This is a terrible eyesore on an otherwise great theme. Thanks alot!
Oh, and I forgot to add that it does the same thing regardless of the windowblinds or litestep theme (I've tried different combos of both and always get the same problem) So it isn't just a faulty windowblinds theme.
This is something that WindowBlinds has issues with. When Explorer is set as the shell it doesn't have any issues skinning it, however, when it is loaded as an app skinng causes some major issues. You will find in your exception list explorer and a few other MS apps. No, you can't fix it or get around it and still use explorer. If it is a must have go into the File Manager thread that is above and replace explorer completely.
weird.
[morph] used to run windowblinds with litestep no problems back in the [noir] days ..
Hmm, ok, thanks alot DeViLbOi. Trying out some alternative file managers. That's too bad though, kind of a pain (shaking fist at Stardock)
shake that fist at M$ instead
The problem can be seen by going to a run dialog and entering "c:" (minus the quotes). Running this will cause explorer to pop up unskinned by WindowBlinds. If however, you run "explorer c:" then explorer will pop up nicely skinned.
I also find that my run dialog doesn't get skinned, probably due to the same problem.
you must remember that the run dialog is part of a DLL file and explorer is an application. You will also notice that your Control Panel Applets don't get skinned...along with a few others.
Does this happen no matter what LS build you use? Even with Indie LS builds?
has always happened as far as I can remember.
Dunno if This may be of any interest but windowblinds actually picks up those unskinned explorer windows as Litestep.exe not explorer.exe, maybe has something to do with that...just my 2cents.
as for the latest version of WB this problem is solved - i cant find anything unskinned now
had that same problem b4 - now its gone
