How to return to explorer.exe? Thread last updated on 2003-02-24 07:31:12

I have just figured out the whole OTS with litestep, I have it installed and am able to switch between themes smoothly. Now I was wondering, if I were to ever need to go back to explorer.exe as my shell, how would I go upon doing this? I assume it is possible, any suggestion are welcome, Thanks…

There is a shell switcher that is essentially another shell. I forget its name, but when you boot up, it displays a menu that alows you to select which shell you wish to use for that session.

Well, you could either
a) read the documentation at lsfaq.shellfront.org and figure out how to uninstall it manually
b) read the documentation at ls-ots.cjb.net that came with your litestep ots and notice that running litestep -uninstall will uninstall it
c) run add/remove programs and uninstall like you would any other program

as demosthanese mentioned, there are shell switchings that boot up instead of a shell, enabling you to select which shell you want to load. popular ones are carapace (.5 beta just released, at http://www.lowdimension.net) or shellon, url unknown.

good luck.

Just try LiteSpawn, shell switcher.

If you don't wish to uninstall LS but simply "swich theme" to explorer, you can run LSTS.exe from your LS folder - it comes with OTS. Then all you need to do is click the Explorer button.

You just have to edit the RegKey (Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell). Write your shell destination (Explorer or Litestep). You can make a VB exe which edit this Registry key, with your own interface.
