Wallpaper problems Thread last updated on 2004-02-12 21:03:27

I am using the latest OTS2 compliant LS installer which is backwards compatible for OTS1 themes. I can get most of the OTS1 themes to load but I cannot get the wallpapers to the themes to load. Previously I was using the settings option in LSTS to get the wallpapers to load but how do I do this with the theme installer?? I assume that this version of LS (24.7 Beta 4) still reads the .thm file in which I have identified the wallpaper and style (stretch, tile etc.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

convert your image to a BMP and you can load it from the Control Panel.

I know I can load from the Control Panel but wondered if there is a way to get OTS1 themes to automatically load wallpaper as they did with previous versions of LS. Thanks for the input.

you could setup LSWallChanger or whatever...but then you have to edit every theme.

if youre going to edit every theme, you may as well just add a theme.ini file, it would be cleaner that way

Thanks guys, I think a theme.ini file will do nicely. Great support. Cheers

how much simpler can it really be?

Dev I hear ya, but some direction is helpful...

Wolvez:
Go in the folder you installed litestep.
Look for the themes folder.
Look for Austerity folder.
Look at the theme.ini file and open with notepad.exe
Copy and place this file in each theme folder that does not change wallpapers.
Some themes use lswallchanger.dll or similar to change walls without this file, so be careful...
Make sure you edit the path to your wallpaper you want in each one tho..

Whats wrong with using the Control Panel?

Posted by member 101614 on 2004-01-14 21:55:38 link

When I use Control Panel there isnt a BMP file used for the wallpaper and when I look for it in the folders to make it a bmp the picture isnt there. All I did was ask for a little help its not like I asked you to recode the whole system I'm sorry.

so then you would open the JPEG image in IE or Phoenix or whatever right click on it and choose set as wallpaper.

uh, most themes don't include wallpapers, if that's what you're trying to do. if you want the wallpaper in the theme screenshot, you'll need to contact the author to try to find out where he got it from.
