Hi all, i read in a a forum on devianart something about litestep running on top of explorer.

I recentky installed litestep and everything seems to work fine (only tested simplicity thus far)

Now when i rightclick and go to shell there i see explorer listed. Is this normal? or does that mean i'm running litestep on top of explorer.

Hope this question makes sence.

Greetings

"rightclick and go to shell"? nope, doesn't make any sense. however, you're probably not running LS on top of explorer, unless you installed it that way.
when you say explorer listed, did you have the windows file manager open, and you may not have noticed it?

What you're seeing is probably the shell switcher menu which allows you to go back to... explorer. :)

that's the first thing I thought of, but I hope he wasn't talking about that.

There used to be a 'shells' entry in the default popup menu, that's probably what you mean Poutrelle?

I thought it might be misunderstood though, so in v3.0.1 of the LiteStep Installer I commented it out and moved shell setting to the 'LiteStep' group in the Start Menu (where I feel they make more sense...), plus there's the option to create desktop shortcuts for setting the shell.

yep that's what i mean, sorry for that question.
i have bought a magazine on desktop-shells and litestep was highly recommended, so i thought why not give it a shot (the program came on a Cd given with the magazine).
I see now that the version i have is 0.24.7 (the one with the continents as desktop)
It seems it's the installer v2.6 although the CD is published this month.

Time to upgrade is my next guess ;p

yeah, but the new installer is not compatible with pre 3.0, so remember to uninstall first.

eum.../me confused
when i follow the installation tutorial and the link to indie litestep there the latest stable build is 2.4.6...

so...
i should uninstall litestep and then reinstall with the new installer provided by omar.
(should have known those stupid cd'roms always give stupid versions

thx again all.
I succesfully managed to uninstall litestep (i printed all possible tutorials before doing it hehe)

One thing i have to say though:

the uninstall instructions (on registry editing) are mostly different in each tutorial.
Even on the same site as shellfront.org (check the lsfaq vs de lsdocs)

But it worked, and now time to set up the latest version with the latest installer.

Thx again (i'll give you all a personal theme 2morrow morning):)

well, you should only need to run the installer. you shouldn't need to manually edit the registry anymore.
