I'm just curious. Will it crash alot and make my computers performance worse. Im not complaining or anything, I've just never tried this.
I have a Pentium 4 2.53 GHz with 768 MB of RAM running windows xp, incase that matters.
can...depends how you have it setup.
litestep itself wont (shouldnt) make your computers performance worse, although there are some problems with logon in xp... search the forums about those. the themes are mainly what determines performance... a good minimalist theme can make it better, a bad theme that uses buggy modules and badly written config can make it much worse. try out a few themes and see what you like
Windows 2000, SP3
Simplicity using the older installer gave 300 in 3DMark2001 compared to explorer (in explorer, I got 9675 repeatably)
My current theme, doing 3 Pixel Bliss from scratch with scripting and such, the way it should have been done, gives around 500.
So overall, it takes up fewer resources...but I garuntee you that there are many themes that will eat up more (though in most cases you won't actually notice a difference).
edit: on a P4 2.53 w/ that much RAM, you'll never notice a difference even with themes full of eye candy. I initially read the question and figured nobody asking that would have a 1GHz+ CPU :).
